With 2025 officially in the rearview and fall sports concluded, Bulldog athletes have yet again accomplished many amazing feats on the field and the court.
With so many exciting games and records broken across different teams this season, the Tribune is here to recap the most important moments for each team:
Football
The football season was the longest lasting season out of any of the fall sports, starting Aug. 4th and ending on Dec. 6, after a difficult 21-48 loss to Murray High School in the state semifinals.
However, overall, the football season was quite successful. With the regular season record being 10-1 and a final, top-four finish in the state, Stone Bridge Football had an impressive year.
“I’m happy I was able to play with my brother for his last high school season,” sophomore Kaden Golston said. “ I’m proud of our improvement this season compared to last year.”
Cheerleading
The cheerleading team had a similarly competitive season, placing second in regionals and eventually tying for fourth place in the state championship. Bulldog cheerleaders had a lot of challenges to overcome because of injuries on the team and sicknesses, but they still pushed through and ended the season competitively.
The cheerleader’s routine this year was military themed. Aside from their outstanding routine, two athletes earned First Team All-State honors.
“I was happy to be able to be on this team again this year,” Junior Freya Brown said. “I was also happy to meet the new freshmen on the team and welcome them to Stone Bridge.”
Volleyball
Volleyball players entered the 2025 season with a new coach, Coach Shulga. While the team did not achieve all the victories they wanted, the girls still had fun and adjusted well to a new dynamic. The team fought a hard three-set match in the first round of playoffs against Potomac Falls and are already gearing up for next season.

“I enjoyed playing with all the girls,” junior Amanda Bond said. “[I] can’t wait for more wins next season!”
Cross Country
Cross country ran all the way to the state championship, highlighting their significant improvement from last year. In comparison, only one runner qualified for states in 2024, but this past season, the team had three qualifying athletes: Ava Clark, Ada Bradley, and Ethan Shepherd.
This is amazing progress, and with many returning racers, the cross country team is looking to pick right back up where they left off on this positive note.
“My hopes for next year is that our team works better together and focuses on qualifying for states as a team,” junior Ada Bradley said.
Golf
Though the golf team does not compete on school grounds, these athletes put in just as much work as the rest of the on-campus teams to ensure a successful season. Golfers ended with a final record of 5-5, and the team is excited to try to improve on their achievements even more next year.
“Our season didn’t go the way we hoped it would,” sophomore Sahej Gill said. “But the whole goal for next season is to make it to States.”
Field Hockey
Field hockey had a successful season overall, but also had a heartbreaking early exit in playoffs due to confusing VHSL rules. The team ended its season with a winning record of 11-7 and a third-place ranking in the district.
Most importantly, the girls still had an overwhelmingly positive season by ending with the most single season wins in program history.
“[The field hockey team] had higher overall player stats than last year,” sophomore Annabeth Fullerton said. “We definitely came together more as a team.”
