Another amazing year ahead for Stone Bridge sports as cheerleading welcomes two new coaches onto the team. With high hopes of victory, the coaches and athletes have been working diligently in order to be the top of the competition.

Head coach Kristin Thompson, is welcomed back to Stone Bridge High School during the 18-19 school year after she has previously cheered for the bulldogs in 2010. She also has been coaching as an assistant coach for Stone Bridge for the past couple of years. She has high hopes for the varsity Bulldogs this year, as does Zach Cabot. Cabot has competitively cheered for over 30 years and is ready to take on the role of coach.

Stone Bridge Cheer is in 5A division along with Broad Run, Riverside, and Briar Woods. The first cheer competition is against Park View High School on September 26th at Park View. The next event is the first home meet on September 29th, this event is the biggest event of the season called “The Spirit Bowl” which is against all the teams in the 5A division. Then during the second week in October, Stone Bridge faces Broad Run High School in the cheer battle of the burn hosted at Broad Run.

Last year, Stone Bridge Cheer unfortunately only made it to Regionals. “I’m excited to hopefully move to states this year and win…it would be the ultimate reward”, Hall states.

Senior Rachelanne Hall has been competitively cheering for Stone Bridge for four years now and is eager to finish out her last season strong.

“Cheer helps me slay more day to day,” Hall said Hall also explained how the cheer team plays a big part in the spirit of the football games. “Hyping up the crowd is half of the game”, Hall said.

With multiple teams in the division, Stone Bridge High School has a long and competitive road ahead. The cheer team has many competitions coming up. Make sure to come out and support the cheer team as they continue their journey to reach Districts and Regionals. Go Bulldogs!
