“Pawsitive Paws,” a new club run by senior Cara King, is a club that meets twice a month to help animals that are in shelters and who are homeless in the Loudoun County area.
Helping the community comes in so many different ways, but for King, she assists by looking after animals that can’t otherwise help themselves. The club meets twice a month with the goal of placing dogs in safer living conditions.
“At the first meeting [of the month], we come up with a service project that we want to do,” King said. “Then, at the next meeting, we’ll actually do that. It can be making toys, or we’ll do a food drive. And then we take what we get, and we donate to the LCAS, which is the Loudoun County Animal Services.”
Everyone who is a part of the club joined for their own reasons, but it all correlates with their love for animals. Club members agreed to the same important goals all while communicating to Loudoun County residents the club’s mission, achievements, and adoptions through social media.
The club isn’t the only place you can donate to though, donations can also be made to the Loudoun County Animal Shelters (LCAS) directly to help support the club’s mission.
“The goal is just to help people know that there’s a lot of animals out there suffering,” King said. “And to give them more love or something to do. Then we also post about [the animals] on social media, and dogs that are up for adoption.”
When talking about future plans for the club, King explained how there will be two drives during the next few months and a meeting for making toys for animals in shelters. Information about these meetings can be found on the club’s Instagram page, @pawsitivepaws_co.
“We have a drive where we’re going to donate food to [the shelter].” King said. “Then, we’re going to have a blanket drive, and we’re going to make toys for not just dogs– really for cats and bunnies, also.”
The club isn’t the only place you can donate to though, donations can also be made to the Loudoun County Animal Shelters (LCAS) directly to help support the club’s mission.
“You can always just donate to LCAS,” King said. “They’re always looking for people to help. You can also volunteer on Sundays, and you can help out at the kennels. If you want to join the club, you can always feel free!”
