In the past month, Jojo Siwa has once again become the topic of discussion for taking part in the 24th season of “Celebrity Big Brother UK,” which was a season full of shocking events and interactions with co-stars.
Early on into the season, tension rose between Jojo Siwa and co-star Mickey Rourke, who is an actor and former professional boxer, due to Rourke making several remarks about and toward Siwa, including a slur about her sexuality. Rourke was warned about his conduct and was eventually kicked off of the show due to his malicious attitude towards Siwa.
Siwa quickly found comfort in another co-star, Christopher Hughes, former “Love Island UK” contestant, who stood up for her during the debacle. They spent the majority of their time on the show together and swiftly became inseparable, including sleeping in the same bed. Many fans called the two out due to their touchiness and inappropriate interactions as Siwa was in a serious relationship at the time. In interviews, Hughes and Siwa both referred to each other as friends.
“Seeing them act that way was weird since Siwa had a girlfriend at home who was also watching the show,” sophomore Rahil Harrif said. “The way they acted with each other was definitely not just friendly, and I would totally count it as borderline cheating.”
Throughout the month that the season took place, Australian podcast host Kath Ebbs, Siwa’s partner at the time, had gone silent on social media along with turning off comments on the couple’s most recent posts. Ebbs’s doubts were then met when they joined Siwa at the wrap party for the show where Siwa then broke off their relationship. Shortly afterwards, Ebbs went online to tell the public their thoughts and what took place at the party.
“It’s really unfortunate that my relationship with this person is being reduced to untrue allegations about what happened at a party,’” Ebbs said in a statement to “E! News.” “‘The public has only heard one side of the story. Attacks on my character are not something I take lightly, especially from someone I cared for deeply and shared a committed relationship with.”
Unfortunately, all of the interviews that Siwa and Hughes are doing together in the time since the show is not helping the allegations that they’re dating. The two of them being ‘friends’ is putting Siwa into an even worse light than what she was already in.
To combat the unfavorable media coverage, Siwa’s mother, Jessalynn Siwa, leaked an audition tape of her daughter for Disney’s live action “Tangled.” This audition leak is believed to have been a way for Siwa’s PR team to divert all of the negative publicity from the show.
“She doesn’t resemble Rapunzel and her audition was kind of poor,” Harrif said. “Which made people make fun of her, and it was kind of funny since she lacks the resemblance of the character.”
Swa’s over-the-top audition has spread across the internet in little time, keeping her mid-year media streak active. The audition has even influenced viral remakes from YouTubers and other popular media icons.
“I feel like the whole ‘Big Brother UK’ situation with Hughes definitely got her cancelled,” Harrif said. “And having her audition be leaked by her own mom is kind of trying to make sure she’s still popular. Which it is, but just in the wrong light. It isn’t helping all of the hate that she’s already getting.”
