Former President Donald Trump announced his campaign for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination on Nov 15, sparking an outpour of confusion across parties.

After serving as the 45th president between 2016-2020, Trump lost his reelection to current president Joe Biden. He publicized his third White House campaign at Mar-a-Lago, his waterfront estate in Florida.

“America’s comeback starts right now,” Trump said in his announcement speech. “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

The announcement was met with mixed reactions from all sides of the political spectrum, with even members from his own party questioning his candidacy.

“I’ve seen this show before and it’s a NO from me,” Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares tweeted. “The ugliness and toxicity must end.”

However, others welcome the news as they have been excitedly waiting for Trump’s return to politics, believing he is a leader that has shown time and time again what he is willing to do for the country.

“I will follow this man ’til the day I die,” said former Representative Madison Cawthorn on an Instagram reel, “This man has bled for us, this man has fought for us, this man has put his entire career, put his entire life, put his entire persona, everything about him, everything about the Trump family, the children, his wife. He’s put it all on the line for every single one of us.”

While not denying any or all sacrifices the former president made, even those close to him have come to the conclusion it’s time for change. They believe a new unifying force would fit into the role of the 47th president better.

“I think we’ll have better choices in the future,” former Vice President to Trump Mike Pence said in an interview with CNN. “People in this country actually get along pretty well once you get out of politics. And I think they want to see their national leaders start to reflect that same compassion and generosity of spirit.”

America’s comeback starts right now.

Trump feels that his return to office will allow him to achieve what he wasn’t able to do in his first term as president. His unfinished business is echoed by those close to him, including his wife, Melania.

“I support my husband’s decision to run for president of this wonderful Nation,” Former First Lady Melania Trump said. “I await the day when my husband returns to lead an America that is characterized by peace, love, and security.”

Whether he returns to lead or not will be decided by the American people on a later date. At this point, there is no denying he will be doing everything in his power to make his voice and ideas heard leading up to that.

“Because this is not just a campaign, this is a quest to save our country,” Trump said. “ We will make America safe again, we will make America glorious again, and we will make America great again.”
