High hopes for this season

The boys’ varsity wrestling team is more confident this year than they have been in past years

“I believe this season’s team is much better than other years because we have had a good turnout of people returning from previous years to wrestle again,” Junior Robert Swain said, when asked about how he thinks the team will perform this season.

Full Team

In past years the varsity team has been short on wrestlers which has made it difficult for them to fill weight classes.  But this year the team has a full roster.

“In previous years, we were not able to have a full varsity lineup because we were short on wrestlers, but this year, we plan to fill every weight class with a varsity wrestler,” Swain said.

Record This Season

This season the team has dueled Loudoun County, winning 57-18, and Dominion, losing 37-39.  This loss did not discourage the Bulldogs.  They took it as a learning experience, keeping their heads up and moving forward.

“While it was a loss, I believe we took something away from our duel with Dominion, and that we can build off that loss to become a better team,” Swain said.

Junior Varsity Wrestling

The JV team is halfway through their season, they have two upcoming duels with Briar on Jan. 14 and Jan. 20
